According to the latest decision of the 16th Finance Commission, more than Rs. 55,900 crore will be directly transferred to the Panchayats. Earlier, the Panchayats received approximately Rs. 2,36,000 crore directly in the first five years, which has now increased to Rs. 4,35,000 crore. The amount of Rs. 1,51,000 crore under ‘Viksit Bharat G Ram Ji‘ and the Rs. 55,900 crore received under the Finance Commission will together play an unprecedented role in building developed villages, self-reliant villages, and villages that are employment-rich and poverty-free.
In the first five years, the Panchayats received a total of about Rs. 2,36,000 crore directly; this amount has since risen to Rs. 4,35,000 crore.
