PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana: An effort to change India’s agricultural environment.

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has authorized the “Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana” for a six-year period beginning in the fiscal year 2025–2026 in an effort to change India’s agricultural environment.

The plan, which was unveiled in the Union Budget 2025–2026, intends to improve 100 districts that have low cropping intensity, low agricultural productivity, and restricted access to finance.

Inspired by the Aspirational District Program of NITI Aayog, this is the first program of its sort that is only focused on agriculture and related fields. Its goals are to increase crop yields, encourage sustainable farming and diversification, fortify post-harvest storage, better irrigation, and increase farmers’ access to credit.

The program will function by combining 36 current programs from 11 central departments, as well as state-level projects and private sector collaborations. Every state and union territory will have at least one district represented, and the overall distribution will be determined by the number of operating holdings in each area as well as the net cultivated area.

Committees will be established at the district, state, and federal levels to guarantee effective implementation. Through its District Dhan-Dhaanya Samiti, each district will create a unique Agriculture and Allied Activities Plan that will involve forward-thinking farmers. These strategies will support national objectives such agricultural diversification, the growth of organic and natural farming, and the preservation of land and water.

A digital dashboard with monthly updates will be used to monitor the scheme’s implementation through 117 key performance indicators.
